Washington, DC will be the host of a carbon-neutral inauguration ball – the  Green Inaugural Ball – on January 17, 2009.  Tickets are now available to the event.

From the lighting and floral arrangements to the decor and venue selection, everything is being planned to be as eco-friendly as possible. They are even encouraging women to buy vintage or “recycled” gowns.

Best of all, all the food served during the event will be either vegan or vegetarian from organic sources.

Note that this event is not to be confused with Al Gore’s Green Ball: Inauguration of a New Green Economy. That is an invitation only event. However, Al Gore has been invited to stop over at the Green Inaugural Ball, as well.
